Location
Long X Visitor Center
Join us as we celebrate the installation of "Jonesy," the life-sized long horn steer sculpture by renowned metal artist John Lopez at the Long X Visitor Center in Watford City.
Sponsored by Jones Contracting, Jonesy was created in Lopez's signature detailed “hybrid metal” style that that seamlessly fuses discarded farm equipment, scarp iron, and cast bronze. Jonesy pays homage to the Long X Cattle Trail, which served as a primary route for driving huge herds of Texas Longhorns up from southern breeding grounds to the grasslands of western North Dakota and eastern Montana in the late-19th-century. His brother, Maverik, is displayed in Houston.
