Hygge (pronounced “hoo-guh”) is a Danish and Norwegian concept embodying a feeling of cozy contentment, well-being, and enjoying life’s simple pleasures, often shared with loved ones, through creating a warm atmosphere with soft lighting, good food, and togetherness. It’s a quality of comfort, intimacy, and presence, finding joy in everyday moments rather than grand gestures, fostering connection and a sense of security.
PLUS: Sign up to take part in a Rosemaling workshop with Bismarck based folk artist Molly McClean at 2 pm. Molly will guide you through the techniques used create a unique rosemaling wooden plaque. All supplies will be included and guests will be able to practice on tracing paper before committing to their design in order to ensure a beautiful outcome.
Rosemaling originated in Norway and is a Scandinavian peasant style that consists especially of floral designs and inscriptions, typically on wooden furniture or decor.
